Online Registration & Verification

Redmond School District has opened online student registration and verification for all students for the 2020-21 school year.

Using ParentVue, the district’s parent portal, parents or guardians can securely register new or verify returning student information in all grade levels. This significantly reduces the traditional paper documentation that was previously completed in person then hand-delivered to schools.

To register new students or verify returning student information, parents can visit the district website at www.redmondschools.org and click the online registration link on the home page.

Greetings Obsidian Middle School Families

As we prepare for the start of the school year we will be hosting two Chromebook distribution sessions for all students who do not currently have a Redmond School District Chromebook and need one in order to participate in school starting September 10th. Please check your email regularly as we will be sending out a more detailed message with specifics about Chromebook pick up, insurance, technology use agreements, and other technology needs later next week. Please contact the school directly prior to the distribution day if your family is in need of a hotspot.

The distribution will take place at the north entrance (back of school). Please remember to wear a mask and practice social distancing while picking up your student’s Chromebook.

OMS Chromebook distribution dates:

Thursday, August 27th, 2:00 PM-6:30 PM

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2:00 PM-6:30 PM

Student Life at OMS

Our Principal

I’m Jensine Peterson and it is an honor to serve as Principal of Obsidian Middle School. I believe a child’s future is in the making and that each day is an opportunity to expand their lifelong opportunity. As a fellow parent, I believe educating our children is the most important investment we make each day.

An educator since 2004, I am the first in my family to attend college.  I earned my Bachelor of Science Education from Northern Arizona University and my Masters in School Administration from Concordia University. I’ve taught both middle and high school in the public and private sectors, and in both rural and urban areas. From 2013-2020, I served as Assistant Principal of Ridgeview High School. I’m proud to call the Redmond School District my community.

2020-21 is a year like none other. Starting school in a comprehensive distance learning model brings unique opportunities and challenges. I am committed to leading Obsidian Middle School to be the best distance learning school in all of Central Oregon!  We’ll achieve this goal by focusing on Collaboration, Connectivity, and Care during this unique school year.

Our Theme this year is “Here We Are.” Even though we’re all learning from different locations this fall, we are ONE WOLFPACK ~ united through our love for learning and passion for creating a bright future for our community. Our top-notch educators are embracing this year as a unique moment in your child’s life ~ and we’re making it count! Our team is passionate about bringing structure, rigor, compassion, and achievement to your child – even if they don’t come to our physical campus each day.

Should your child or family need any support this school year, please reach out and let our team know. We stand ready to serve and to remove barriers to learning out of every child’s way.

Please introduce yourself when we have the good fortune of crossing paths! It’s an honor to partner with you in educating your scholar.

Principal, Obsidian Middle School

Donate to OMS

Our athletics, band, and art programs at OMS provide valuable experiences for our students. Many students are faced with economic barriers that prevent them from participating in extra-curricular at OMS. We want to break down those barriers and need your help! Please consider donating to one of our programs so that more students have the opportunity to participate.

*All donations will go directly towards equipment and scholarships for OUR students.
