Dance Expectations

We are excited to be hosting our first dance of the school year on Friday, February 7th! OMS staff will chaperone the event. 


Doors Open 5:30PM and the dance ends at 7:00PM. Please plan on picking up your student promptly at 7:00PM.


  • The cost is $5.00 per student

  • Soda, water and snacks will be available for purchase


Dance Rules and Expectations:

  • Students must be in school on the day of the dance in order to attend.

  • Students must present their student ID card at the door.

  • Students are expected to follow all OMS and RSD rules as outlined in the student handbook and RSD board policy while attending the dance.

  • Once students arrive on the OMS campus for the dance they are not permitted to leave and return to the dance for any reason.

  • Any students who violate the OMS rules will have their parents called and they must be picked up.

  • Only actively enrolled OMS students are allowed to attend. No guests permitted.


Dance Eligibility:

In order to be eligible to attend the dance, students must have met the following criteria that is consistent with RSD High Schools and is outlined below. If your student is not eligible for the dance they will be notified by school administration that morning and you will receive an email notification about their ineligibility. At OMS, being a student that is high school ready is the top priority.


Extracurricular Participation and Social Events - 

Participation in extracurricular school events (e.g. school dances, field trips, clubs, etc.) is a privilege and an important part of the middle school experience. In order to attend such events, the following must occur starting Friday, January 31st – Students must have no more than 2 absences; excused or unexcused, no more than 4 tardies and no major behavior incidents. Students may file an appeal with the Principal and/or Assistant Principal, should there be extenuating circumstances. Appeals must be filed by Wednesday, February 5th. No exceptions will be made after that date.
