Obsidian Middle School Updates ~ April 18, 2025

Greetings Wolfpack!

It’s hard to believe we’re already halfway through April! May is just around the corner, and this time of year is very important for learning. Thank you for making sure your student comes to school each day ready to learn. Our attendance has been excellent, and that’s because of your support—thank you! Last trimester we celebrated 154 students who achieved A’s, B’s, and 93% attendance. This is a fantastic achievement and we can’t wait to have even more students achieve that goal during trimester three!

In class, students are working hard to get ready for high school. We’ve seen so much growth this year, and it’s exciting to watch them learn and improve. Our teachers are focused on helping every student stay engaged and do their best each day.

As we move into spring, we want to remind everyone how important it is to follow school expectations to finish the year strong. Please take a few minutes to talk with your student about their behavior and habits at school. At Obsidian, we focus on three core expectations:

  1. Keep hands to self
  2. Use respectful and kind language
  3. Keep phones off and put away during the school day

Also, we’ve noticed more energy drinks and Dutch Bros being brought to school. These drinks are not allowed in classrooms and should not be delivered to students during the day.
As we wrap up April and move into May, we are excited to continue to watch our students grow both in and out of the classroom. I am constantly impressed by the effort and quality of work that our students produce!
Thank you for your partnership in supporting our amazing students and school community!

Go Wolves!

ParentVUE & Canvas

One of the most impactful ways you can support your student is to frequently check their grades and check for missing work. At Obsidian we use two platforms to share grades and feedback.

Canvas - Check grades, see missing work, and see specific feedback on assignments.
ParentVUE - Student grades and report cards

Athletics

We are so proud of our student-athletes! This spring we have over 150 student-athletes representing Obsidian in track & field and soccer. Both sports are off to a great start and we encourage you to come out and support our amazing students!

Student Conduct

At Obsidian we strive to have the best learning environment possible for our amazing students. To support that mission, we continue to discuss expectations and review how to be a positive contributor to our school community. We ask that you please support your student by encouraging them to meet our community expectations (Obsidian Collective Commitment to Excellence) and follow our school expectations (Link to Student Handbook).
