Obsidian Middle School Updates ~ March 6, 2026

OMS New Front

Greetings Wolfpack Families!

We are thrilled to celebrate the wonderful accomplishments of our students during Trimester 2! Our middle schoolers worked hard, and it showed. Many students earned A's and B's, and we are especially proud that our school reached 93% attendance—our schoolwide goal. When students are here, they learn and grow. Thank you for making attendance a priority!

Attendance Matters
Research shows us that strong attendance in spring is one of the best predictors of student success throughout the year and beyond. As we head into Trimester 3, we encourage families to continue supporting regular attendance. Every day counts!

Trimester 3: A Fresh Start
Trimester 3 is here, and with it comes a wonderful opportunity for a fresh beginning. All grades reset, giving every student a chance to start strong. We encourage parents to check in with your student about their goals for this trimester and remind them that effort and consistency lead to success. Report cards will be sent home and available via ParentVue next Friday.

Kindness in Our School
Our school counselors have been meeting with all classes to discuss the importance of kindness and respect. These conversations are helping create a positive, supportive school community. We'd love for families to join in this conversation at home! Please watch this short video made by our counselors and students: [VIDEO LINK]

We look forward to an amazing Trimester 3 with your support!

Go Wolves!

Best,
Evan Grant
Principal, Obsidian Middle School

Guide to Academic Success: Academic Support

Traffic

If you have dropped off your student this year, you have noticed that our traffic can get very backed up. To help get students to class and families in and out quickly, please make sure you: pull as far forward as possible; have your student get out of the car as soon as it comes to a stop regardless of where you are in the drop-off line; and use both lanes (each side of the median). We appreciate your patience and attention to making drop-off go efficiently.

Friendly Reminders

  • Reach out early to your student's teacher if you feel they are struggling or falling behind. We want to help early before they get into too large of a hole. T3 has just begun so everyone has a fresh start!
  • Please do not have food delivered to OMS via any food delivery service.

Bus Drivers Needed

The district has adopted a new wage schedule for bus drivers, and positions start at $24.45 per hour. Apply at redmondschools.org/jobs.
