Dear Obsidian 8th Grade Families,

Middle school is quickly drawing to a close for the class of 2030. We are incredibly proud of your student’s hard work, and for their perseverance during these unprecedented middle school years. It’s our pleasure to provide several opportunities for your student to celebrate their achievements.

8th Grade RAVEN sports day - RVHS athletics host a field day event for our 8th grade class. Our students will rotate through stations highlighting each athletic opportunity that RVHS hosts. This will be during the school day from 11-1 at OMS. 

8th grade carnival - This event will be held on campus from 11-1. We will be celebrating the completion of a successful OMS journey with games, water slides, snacks and a BBQ. Please encourage your student to wear sunscreen.

8th Grade Promotion - Promotion will be held in the OMS Gym. Students will receive a certificate of middle school completion. Light refreshments will be served. Doors open at 5:00 PM and promotion begins at 5:30 PM. 

Class of 2029 Dance - Entrance is FREE; snacks and drinks are provided due to generous donations from our families. The theme of the dance is “Red Carpet” so dress your best! Dance will begin shortly after promotion; dance doors open at 6:30 and will end by 8:00. Students are expected to stay at the event until they plan to leave; no re-entry. OMS 8th graders only - no guests. 

Field Day - Early release on this day is at 11:08 AM. The morning of Thursday June 11th all OMS students will have the opportunity to play games and have fun at OMS’ long-standing tradition, Field Day. Kona Ice will be available for purchase if you would like to send money with your child. School breakfast, lunch and popsicles will be free of charge. 

Important ~ We invite all eighth graders to have a strong finish to their middle school years at Obsidian. Participating in the 8th grade carnival, the 8th grade dance, and Field Day are privileges. Students who have received behavior referrals or discipline may lose the privilege of attending these three events. Families, thank you for speaking with your student about having a great finish to the year so they can enjoy these fun events with their classmates and teachers!
